Formerly known as the Ipswich Cycle Association the Ipswich & District Cycle Association is an association of the four main cycling clubs in and around Ipswich. They work together to promote and run an evening time trial series throughout the spring and summer.
The idea of the Time Trial series is to provide friendly but competitive time trialling based around three local courses. Points are awarded for finishing positions in Seniors, Veteran 40+, 50+ and 60+, Ladies and Lady Veteran 40+, 50+ and 60+, Junior and a road bike category. There are 23 events this season (22 to count, the last one is a “fun” event and doesn’t count to the league points) and your league position is based on your best 12 races (based on 55% of the total events so if events are cancelled the number of counting events can be reduced)
This popular time trial series will be under way again on 4th April 2017, starting at Henley Community Centre for two, one lap (5ml) TT’s, for an easy start, before heading to our more traditional 10 mile course at Crowfield Village Hall for six weeks (all on Tuesday evenings this year), and then moving to Battisford Free Church for a further six weeks , before moving on to Wednesdays and Henley Community Centre for the final six weeks of six 10’s, and staying with Wednesday for a final couple of 5’s before a last “fun” 2 up 5 mile TT followed by the prize presentation.
See TT Courses for course maps
See our results page to see how local riders have performed in this season-long series. Come and have a go, all you need is a bike (with a working rear light for the early events) and your entry fee (a crash hat and parental consent if under 18). (What is Time Trialling?)
Everyone is welcome to come and have a go. Any bicycle can be used as long as it’s roadworthy. Newcomers are always made welcome. If you would like some more information please visit our Facebook page or email email@example.com or contact any of the particpating clubs.
